Banff and Glacier

We camped at Johnston Canyon and spent several days exploring Banff and the surrounding area. We hiked to Boom Lake, rode e-bikes to Moraine Lake and Lake Louise, and drove the Icefields Parkway, stopping at Herbert Lake, Bow Lake, Peyto Lake, Waterfowl Lakes, and the Columbia Icefield. The scenery was beautiful, although many of the popular places were crowded. One of our favorite days was at Sunshine Meadows, where we took a gondola and chairlift into the mountains and hiked past Grizzly Lake, Laryx Lake, and Rock Isle Lake. We covered 6.7 miles, reached more than 7,700 feet, and saw a large mule deer along the trail.

There were also plenty of small adventures along the way. Marg fell off her e-bike when she stopped at Moraine Lake, I took a wrong turn and somehow got back to the bike shop after she did, and our car wouldn't start as we were leaving Canada. A fellow camper gave us a jump, and a shop in Calgary checked the battery and found nothing wrong. We eventually crossed back into the United States and reached Avalanche Campground in Glacier. Marg didn't write anything for the next two days, so the pictures will have to tell the rest of the story.
