The last hike we did in the mountains, we didn't have shoe chains. It didn't turn out so well. This time, we had them and it made all the difference in the world. Here is a model displaying shoe chains.
The snow was about five feet deep near the start of the trail and about 8 to 10 at our high point.

Almost to lunch

Lunch time. Hard to find a much better location for lunch. Notice, few tracks. No people.
Mt Hood, Mirror Lake (covered in ice) and my sweet wife of over 40 years - yes, the Jungle woman of Fiji. On our fifth anniversary, over 35 years ago, before our daughter, Elizabeth, was born, we did this very same hike. Sort of nice to know we still got it.
Mt. Hood
Nice view from our lunch site.
My favorite picture: I liked how this little stream ran off the mountain.
