Johnson Canyon
10/19/2020: This is a great little hike if you want to stretch your legs after an earlier hike, or after eating lunch. Box Canyon, rhyolite cliffs and an arch. Continue hiking beyond the arch for more great scenery. We did this hike after the longer Butterfly, Lava Flow, West Canyon, Red Sands, Whiptail, and Petrified Dunes Loop.
Marg’s Notes: Snow Canyon State Park. Started hiking ~9:30 am. On advice from a person in the Ranger Office we made a loop of several trails. This had us walking thru lots of different sights. We went on the Hidden Pinyon trail to Red Sands, to Lava Flow, to Butterfly to Petrified Dunes back to Hidden Pinyon. Really neat hike. 4.5 miles. The Petrified Dunes were really cool. We saw lots of people. We had lunch, then hiked the Johnson Canyon Hike. 1.97 miles. It was really nice, into a box canyon.
