Aug 11, 2025: Hang Loose tour to Captain Cook Memorial, Turtle Beach

August 11 (Day 3 -Hang Loose tour to Captain Cook Memorial, Turtle Beach): Got up at 6:00 to get ready for our snorkeling trip! Didn’t have to fix lunch as they provide it. There was lots of traffic getting to the marina, but we were there by 7:15. We were on a Hang Loose tour . The boat ride took ~1/2 hour. Beautiful day, calm sea. Our destination was the Captain Cook memorial. The water was very nice & clear. Lots of fish! Also, lots of people! The water was chilly in spots. You could see the temperatures mixing. Rod got a good video of a white mouth eel! Eventually, a fairly large boat came & it got really crowded. So, we swam back to the boat & had lunch. Then we headed back. Stopped at a few sights of interest on the way back. At the marina, they told us about the turtle beach nearby. We put our gear in the car & walked over to see the turtles. Pretty cool. Took a rest when we got back... then a shower!

Burrito bowl again! I definitely have Izzy’s virus!! Went to Walmart to get some meds!

Rod’s Thoughts: For me, I would not recommend the Captain Cook Tour unless you just want to see where Captain Cook was killed. That is interesting. However, the snorkeling is not that good and there are way, way too many people. I have never seen so many people snorkeling in one spot. I guess that is why I am not crazy about going to Hawaii – too many people.
